method when the component is required to have good wear resistance
without compromising other mechanical properties. In some applications
induction hardening offers significant cost savings compared to other
heat treatment methods requiring furnace –treatment.
Induction hardening as a process takes only a fraction of the time required for case hardening for example. In addition to that, induction hardening can be applied to the chosen surfaces only, leaving other parts of the component unaffected, maintaining machinability.
